A leather Case with a fall front by John Pound & Co.
The case is lined in dark blue leather and the design, with its fall front, suggests it may have been made to house a scientific instrument or something similar. The sleeve top sits over the bottom section holding the fall front closed. A replaced belt strap secures the two together so that the case can be carried by the fishtail handle to the top. The underside of the case has a loop to hold the belt and four domed brass stud feet.
The top section has decorative tooled lines and a banner to both the front and back with the maker's details of 'John Pound & Co. 81 & 82 Leadenhall St. & 353 & 378 Strand, London'. A gilt maker's oval, giving similar details, is stamped to the blue leather interior.
The owner's name of 'W. H. Parsons, Leighton Buzzard' is also stamped to the top of the case. This is likely to be William Henry Parsons who is listed in an 1890 trade directory as a Grocer on North Street.
This is an interesting case by a good maker. Late 19th Century.
