Campaign Washstand by York House
A mahogany and brass Wash stand by York House.
This design of this portable washstand is typical of a number of makers with brass standards between mahogany shelves. The standards are made to unscrew to dismantle the shelves so that they will flat pack. This set has an inset roundel for the maker York House, to the top shelf.
York House were on Regent Street and also known as the Junior Army & Navy Store. Although they were also a co-operative society, they had no connection with the Army & Navy Store, despite their name.
The washstand is well made`and has a good foot. Late 19th Century.
The brass bowl is shown for demonstration only and is not sold with the washstand.
