As can be seen in the photograph this towel rail completely breaks down for travel. The three single bars each have a hole at either end, hidden when assembled by the two hollow uprights and feet respectively. The double top bar has a steel rod screwed in at either end that passes through these holes locking the horizontal bars into place. The bottom bar locks the solid brass feet into place and ball nuts screwed into the two central bars further secure the towel rail.

Brass campaign towel rails are unusual with most being in wood. Mid 19th century. Dimensions assembled are given.
