Ross of Dublin Antique Campaign Chest
Ross of Dublin Antique Campaign Chest
This mahogany antique Campaign Chest has two short over three long drawers and brass flush handles of a design that are typical of Ross & Co. It is brass bound with shaped corner brasses to the top. The maker's pressed brass plague is inset to the top edge of the top right hand drawer and gives the address details of 9, 10 & 11 Ellis's Quay, Dublin.
As you would expect, the chest breaks into two sections and the feet are also removable for ease of travel. The drawer linings are made of ash. The quality of this chest is good, as you expect of such a well respected maker of campaign furniture. The address and name change date this chest to between 1860 and 1864.
