A leather cased sandwich and flask set by Hill of Newmarket.
The leather case is very well made with good stitching and a padded handle. The interior has one division to separate the large sandwich tin and the glass flask. The tin is stamped Made in England to the interior. The glass flask has a silver plated top with a bayonet fitting.
The case is stamped Hill Maker Newmarket and T C for the owner to the top. Although there are a few Hill's in London who were luggage makers we currently have no information on Hill of Newmarket other than, judging by this case, he was a good quality maker. The set is unusual for its size and its maker. Late 19th Century.
