A leather Wallet or Case, likely made to carry letters.
The case is made with the flap cut to a serpentine shape accentuated by a single tooled tramline. The interior has a front pocket with a gusset to enlarge it on opening or when full. To the back is a slim, tighter pocket.
The back of the case has a 6 1/2 inch long loop to fit the case to a belt or take a strap. There is no evidence of the case ever having any details for the owner.
The case is well made and in good condition. Early to mid 19th Century.
