Campaign Low Table Bidet

A mahogany Bidet with removable legs.
The bidet is made with a completely removable lid. The lid has two brass teeth that slot into fittings on the opposite side of the lock. When locked, this insures the top is held in place. There are also two other brass fittings to the frame of the bidet. Their purpose is now lost but it may have been related to the missing bowl. The bidet has round edges and is made with open dovetails. The top overhangs slightly. The turned legs are removable on wooden threads and are numbered with dots from two to four with one leg not marked. There do not appear to be corresponding marks to the box of the bidet. When removed the legs fit inside to reduce the bidet's size.
For modern use, the bidet makes a useful little side table for an armchair with storage to the interior. Mid 19th Century.
