York House Campaign Chest
York House Campaign Chest
A mahogany, brass bound Campaign Chest by York House, who were also known as the Junior Army & Navy Store.
The chest is a standard design, made in 2 parts with brass corners and strap work. The replaced, turned feet are fitted with wooden threads to be removable for travel. The drawers have an incised line mould to their edge by way of simple decoration and their linings are mahogany.
The top right drawer is fitted with an unnamed Bramah type lock with a raised escutcheon. This drawer also has a round York House, 15 Regent Street, London maker's plaque to its top edge. The top left and first long drawer are fitted with lever locks opening on the same key.
A typical campaign chest of the period by an interesting maker. Late 19th Century.
