Lieut. General Broadley Harrison's Antique Military Campaign Chest

Lieut. General Broadley Harrison's Antique Military Campaign Chest

Sold

It is probable that Broadley Harrison purchased this mahogany, campaign chest when he enlisted as an ensign in 1839.

Certainly the size, handles and brass edging indicate that the chest is of that period, if not earlier. The back has a letter listing the chest's history and it was owned by a number of members of the family, used at the siege of Sevastopol and went to India twice before ending up with Broadley Harrison's granddaughter, a nun at Stanbrook Abbey. A good looking, well made chest. The antique period is early to mid 19th century.
