A small watercolour of a sergeant of the 17th Lancers training. He looks to be tent pegging, a game developed by the cavalry regiments whereby they had to collect a tent peg on their lance. It required a high degree of accuracy and so offered good practise. Although lacking detail, the picture is well drawn. Framed in maple. Circa 1900.
