A low walnut Folding Table.

The legs of the table are made as pairs, each with a central frame with spindles. The two pairs of legs are united to the middle of their frames by a vertical iron rod running through a central spindle. This allows the two leg frames to swivel against each other. One pair of the legs is fixed to the underside of the top by bolts which allows them to either flat pack against the top or stand at a right angle. When set at a right angle, the second pair of legs will twist to set up the table. The legs lock into the set up position with the aid of a steel sprung catch that grips one leg upright. This upright has a brass collar fitted to the top to prevent wear.

The spindles and legs have shallow ring turnings for decoration. The size is good for use with an easy chair or sofa and can easily be brought out as an extra table. The underside of the top has a stencil noting 'Registered No. 119091'. This dates the design to 1889.
