A small pair of mahogany Coaching Tables stamped Liberty & Co.

The tables have been made as convenient low, occasional tables for use with an armchair or sofa. They can quickly be pulled out and set up when needed. They fold on their X frame legs in the same manner as a full sized Coaching Table. When set up, the two piece top is locked in place by a twist bar as you would expect. The leg has a fine sweep and the tables stand very well for it.

The full stamp to the underside of the top is Liberty & Co, Regent St. London. The famous London shop was started by Arthur Lasenby Liberty in 1874 and has always championed new design. It is closely associated with the Arts and Crafts movement and to this day still champions new design.

Although very simple in design and the make, these tables have an elegance. It is always good to have a pair and the small size of these tables make them very practical. Early 20th Century.
