Hill & Millard Table
Hill & Millard Table
The design of this mahogany campaign table is very simply but very efficient, packing down to a compact size.
As can be seen the top is made out of two hinged pieces, allowing it to half its size when packed. The legs are made of turned and stained beech with steel threads to fix them to the top. When packed they fit into cut outs to the underside of the top to keep them in place during travel. The table is locked open by two bolts, when set up. Hill and Millard's stencil is applied to the underside of the top and states Hill & Millard, Manufacturers, 7 Duncannon Street, Trafalgar Square.
The table is relatively low in height but would work well with a Douro or other easy campaign chair. Although it would never be considered the finest piece of furniture it is well made and stands on a good leg. Mid to late 19th century.
