An ash with plywood top Folding Table by Down Bros.

Down Brothers were leading suppliers of all things to the medical world from surgical equipment to furniture. This table was likely made as a side table to take instruments or for use in a ward. It is made to pack down neatly with all the parts locking in place to fix their positions during travel. The legs and frame are made of ash with iron and brass fittings. The plywood top is made to double in length and is supported by extending frames to the ends. The hinged legs are held firmly in place by A frame brackets that meet and are fixed to the middle of the underside of the top on a slide catch.

Away from its original use, this is a very practical table for the ease that it can be set, its stability and the fact that it can extend to 70 inches in length. It useful as a side or drinks table but can also be utilised as a serving table or taken on picnics etc. Circa 1900.

Size given is set up for use but with out the top extended to its full 70 inches.

The Telescopic Cup is sold separately.
