This teak low table flat packs neatly for travel, with its legs folding underneath the top and kept in place by a twist catch. The two pairs of legs are hinged and when the table is set up they are kept in place by angled supports. These supports have metal plates to their end which pass through slits in the stretcher bars of the legs. A peg, which is fixed to the support by cord, is then pushed into a hole in the plate to lock the support in place. The underside of the table has a good oval gilt brass maker's plate with the name 'S.W. Silver & Co. Cornhill London'.

As we can see from British Campaign Furniture, Silver were established for over 100 years and were recorded in the commercial directories from as early as 1838. They claimed they could offer every article needed for camp or travel and gave their premises such wonderful titles as 'Expolorer's Room' and 'Office of the Colonies'. They won awards for their goods and their furniture still enjoys a good reputation. Late 19th century. Size assembled is given.
