Thomas Dalton

It is believed that Thomas Dalton started his Portable Desk and Dressing Case business in 1829 at 31 Percival Street, London. By 1839 he had moved to 6 Great Ormond Street, a premises that he kept for a number of years, although it was not to be his main place of business. By 1841 he had opened a second shop at fashionable Regent Street. First at 65 Quadrant and within 5 years moving to 85 Quadrant where he was to remain until at least 1865. If this is being read on a listing other than by Christopher Clarke Antiques, it has been copied without their permission. He kept the premises at 6 Great Ormond Street until around 1852 but by 1861 was also at 4 Great Vine Street, St. James which became the family home. The last record we have found for Thomas Dalton gives his address as 4 Great Vine Street.
