Commonly used on board ship, this mahogany corner cupboard stands out a little for its fine tambour door.
Most such cupboards have a bow fronted door or are open with a bar to prevent the contents falling out in high seas. The moulded sections of the tambour door, necessary to allow it move, is continued on the fixed sections at either end of the front to give a universal finish. The door knob is brass and the secondary timber is oak. Early 19th Century.
