A leather hide Money Bag.
The purpose of the bag is recognizable by the strength of its build along with its handles that continue as straps around the body of the bag to support it. It was made to be able to carry its heavy contents which might include coins. The exterior is made of a thick leather rolled to imitate a grain whilst the interior is lined in a softer leather and has two pockets. It is a standard size and design for a money bag.
The key is missing but the round escutcheon of the brass lock slides to one side to release it. The underside has four brass domed studs as feet with two smaller ones where the handles straps meet. Early 20th Century.
