A walnut, low Coaching Table.
At the turn of 1900, the simple and effective folding action of the Coaching Table was adapted for use as a coffee table. By altering the curve of the leg, a low table could be made.
The underside of the table has a locking twist bar which will turn to allow the two halves of the top to fold in towards each other. As you do so, the X frame legs also fold and the table is reduced in size.
Although difficult to spot, there has been some restoration to the stretchers but they are strong and in good order. As a permanent or extra coffee table, the design works well with the shape of the legs particularly appealing. Early 20th century.
