Leveson & Sons
Leveson's advertised that they were established in 1849 and offered The Largest Stock In The World of invalid chairs and carriages. They had shops in Oxford Street and Knightsbridge in London as well as in Manchester, Leeds and Liverpool. Much of their furniture was of course used because it offered far greater comfort, with the term invalid having different connotations at the time.
For an officer, it also had the benefit of being portable and forming a chair as well as a bed.
